Cleaning Assurance Coronavirus Infection Control Plan
Cleaning Assurance Corona Virus Infection Control Plan

In anticipation of this being an ongoing issue on 19th February we sent out to all our Site Supervisors and Operatives the following information. This was also resent on 6th March.

Coronavirus Communication and Advice

The World Health Organisation has declared the current outbreak of the Coronavirus a public health emergency of international concern.

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that can cause a range of illnesses from the common cold to more severe infections, this particular virus is called COVID-19.

Colour Coding and Cleaning Products to be used at this time

During this time we recognise the effectiveness of using the correct product and colour coding to prevent the spread of the virus, therefore, for the foreseeable future the Red Zone bactericidal cleaner (and the correct colour coded cloth for the area), must be used to disinfect all touch points as they are prone to harbouring germs:

• Desks
• Door panels
• Handles
• All surfaces
• Light switches
• Vents

Standard Precaution for Infection Control

Personal Hygiene is perhaps the best way of preventing the spread of any virus within the human population.

Hand washing
Wash hands frequently using soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub if your hands ae not visibly dirty.

Practice respiratory hygiene
When coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue – discard tissue immediately into a closed bin and clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth
Hands touch many surfaces and can be contaminated with the virus. If you touch your eyes, nose or mouth with your contaminated hands, you can transfer the virus from the surface to yourself.

Personal Protection Equipment

Disposable gloves are for single use only and must be removed and discarded appropriately as soon as the task is completed.

Staff Welfare

We are also ensuring that our staff have their Line Manager’s up to date contact details so that any changes in their health can be reported. We will continue to look at the latest government advice on what to do in the event of a confirmed case of COVID-19.
