It’s All About Recruitment Strategy

Recruiting the right person for the job is crucial to the success of any business. Having a formal and comprehensive recruitment process in place helps to hire the best candidate. Whilst recruitment in itself is time consuming, putting in time and effort gives an increased chance of hiring a top performer. It’s not about gut feeling, though sometimes that helps, it’s about having a robust recruitment strategy and process.

Because Cleaning Assurance puts great emphasis on the belief that the first stage of retaining an able workforce is a comprehensive recruitment process, we have instigated a fundamental change in our approach to staff recruitment.  We have created a new position within the Company by employing Lola Brookes as Recruitment Support Co-ordinator.

What do we look for?

We have a positive stance against age discrimination, and we aim to recruit applicants who are capable, competent and where possible have an interest in the industry. We also consider the applicant’s degree of responsibility, tact, diplomacy and integrity.

Prospective employees will first apply via our recruitment page with Indeed. After that they participate in our “First Phase” filtering interview.

This will include:

  • Work experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Locality
  • Mobility
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • References
  • Qualifications (vocational & academic)
  • Language and communication skills
  • DBS Disclosure – where applicable

What happens next?

If the candidate is approved, they are sent a full Application Pack followed by a face-to-face “Second Phase” interview at the place of work and with the client’s permission.

Provided the candidate is successful in the “Second Phase”, National Insurance details and eligibility to work in the UK are confirmed prior to being offered employment.

As a “people business” we know that the company would not exist without our staff, and we believe that our staff must understand their crucial importance as part of the team. So, we use various means of communication including:

  • Standardised Staff Induction and Training
  • Staff Handbook
  • Site User Manuals
  • Clear Job Descriptions and identified Company Responsibilities
  • Regular Meetings with all staff and their Manager
  • Regular Appraisals for all employees

Lola will oversee the administration and smooth running of the entire recruitment process. She will be liaising with the Area Managers who will continue to conduct the face to face interviews and meet the new recruit for induction and training.
